Bead Sizes
are normally measured in millimeters (mm) and come in shapes such as round
or oval.

Shapes
- here are some of the most common bead shapes.
Round - circular
Bi-Cone - pointed on both ends
Cube - perfectly square
Square - somewhat elongated
square/rectangular
Triangle - triangular with hole in the
middle
Drop - tear-drop shaped
Rondelle - round and flat
Finishes and linings
consist of several techniques to enhance the appearance of the bead.
Fire polishing
makes crystals sparkle by giving them a smoother look.
Aurora Borealis, or
Rainbow finishing gives crystals a rainbow-type glimmer on one side.
Metallic finish
gives the appearance that a glass crystal is coated in precious metal.
Crackle finish
makes a glass bead appear cracked.
Translucent
beads are clear, and typically have a natural shine to them.
Matte leaves a
dull, smooth finish to the bead, almost appearing frosted.
Gold/silver lined
beads are transparent beads with a thin layer of metal inside the hole of
the bead.
