Beading Basics - Custom clasps

I would like to talk a bit about making handmade jewelry clasps for necklaces or bracelets.  There are plenty of findings you can buy for clasps, but making them from scratch is fun and can show off some of your creativity.  Below is a clasp I just made for a necklace that is fairly simple.  Using a couple of different size gauges of silver wire along with some easy wire bending techniques utilizing chain nose and round nose pliers you can make something like this also.  And adding the little extra bead dangling off the clasp hook gives it a design element and some fun.

I used tigertail (coated braided wire) for the necklace strand and it is connected to the clasp hooks by looping the wire through the eye of the clasp hook and using a crimp bead to finish it off.
