November 2003 Tip of the Month
In order to branch out beyond simple stretchy bracelets and wire-strung necklaces, try using different stringing materials within one piece. I've tried a few mixes that have worked well, including adding chain for the back half of a necklace. Take a look at my green crystal necklace where I strung silver bugles and Peridot Swarovski crystals on wire, but then added chain to the back half of the necklace to add some interest. In addition, I used an earring finding as the basis for the dangle.
Wire wrapping techniques can add interest to a plain length of chain by inserting a single bead every inch or so within the length of chain. I created my purple drop necklace using a bead insertion method. In addition, you can check out a couple of other ideas I've come up with, as well as some of the new jewelry that I made over the summer months in my gallery. |
