		May 2003 Tip of the Month   Wire Work/Bead Patterns This time of year I try to visit every local garden center I can, which can often have interesting beaded hooks, sun-catchers (see photo of one I made at right) and bead/wire covered bottles. Easy housewarming or birthday gifts can be created quickly and easily by buying a few small colored bottles, some 16 gauge wire and a few beads; tuck a single cut flower in for Mother's Day and you've got a special, hand-crafted gift.     Jewelry Bead Patterns Bead patterns can be found everywhere you look if you make a point to notice beadwork throughout your day. The most obvious location is a bead store, but you can usually also find ideas in smaller stores that sell locally hand-made crafts. In addition, I always pay special attention to mail order catalogs, and have copied several designs out of one in particular that is primarily a clothing catalog. I've got a file of catalog pages that I frequently tap into when making a bead run.
